HERALDIC INSTITUTE
Wilhelm Horwood has spent the last 35 years designing new, and emblazoning existing, coats of arms due to his personal passion for the subject. For most of that time he did so in an amateur capacity as he pursued careers, initially in marketing and branding, and for the last 15 years as chief executive of different charitable organisations. As a result of having dual British and German nationality, he was exposed to different cultural approaches to heraldry and wanted to make Germanic heraldry more widely known internationally. He founded the Deutsches Erbe Wappenrolle (German Culture Roll of Arms) in 2021 to make it easier for descendants of those connected to the wider German cultural area, to register existing or newly adopted coats of arms in Germany, and to promote German heraldry to new audiences.
